A conceivable answer is Yes, it is possible to cut wood with these tools, but it needs to be discussed in detail because the speed and high RPM of the machine depend on the specific operation. It’s not easy to make a decision, but yes it is possible to cut wood with the angle grinder.

To cut wood with a grinding tool, you need to choose the correct angle grinder wheel or blade. Otherwise, if you use a general grinding blade, it can be dangerous for your health and certainly, it could harm your arm. So using the right blade for your wood cutting job is essential before starting the task.

But the wood is comparatively softer than metal which requires less speed of angle grinder. So working with this excessive speed can be counterproductive, that’s why they use regular blades increasing the risk of further damage. So you must choose the right wood carving disc for a woodworking job.

  • The disc should fit properly.
  • Don’t try to use the metal cutting blade.

Without preparation for inserting the blade properly, don’t try to work. Saw your grinder throttle lock and be sure ready to work. Besides, you can’t use the grinding disk. So select the perfect wood carving disc to avoid further destruction.

The answer is No, Ideally, an angle grinder is not made for cutting wood. Because the rotation speed is quite enough to cut moreover that could be fatal in the end. There are several carpeting devices are available for woods. You can choose one of them or pick all. 

Now the question is if you are not having any woodworking tools although you need to do emergency work with wood then what will you do?

Obviously, you can choose a grinder at that moment. But it would be helpful if the device having less RPM so that it can produce less rotating power. Most of the corded angle grinders having high rpm than the cordless device.

So if you have a cordless device there’s a possibility to work safely. On the other hand, you aren’t in contact with direct electricity. 

After all, we can't guarantee you if there comes a time when you don't have the right tool at hand but you have an angle grinder at the moment, you can continue working with it, but not recommended. Now make your decision.

  • Use your two hands while working. Use one hand to hold the device and another hand to support it. 
  • Make a slight angle during work. It should be 15 to 30 Degree.
  • Avoid sudden contact with the wood surface, It can cause sudden kickback.
  • Personal Protective Equipment should be wear. Use eye protection, face shield, hearing protection hand gloves, Etc.
  • Maintain regular breaks so that you can use the full potential of the angle grinder.

Technical Safety Precautions:

  • Try to use a suitable blade related to the task. In a wood cutting job, you can use a woodcarving blade. 
  • Use that disc which is specifically made for angle grinder. 
  • Don’t use a damaged wheel and grinder, it can fall you danger. 
  • Check the plugging port if the grinder is corded. Otherwise, check battery time to do smooth finishing.                                              

Conclusion:

Though the decision to cut wood with an angle grinder is not awful. But the terms still effective if you don’t have any other options within your side. So if you’re extra sure to work with an angle grinder, obviously you can do it. Nothing can stop you. Just be sure that the woodcutting system is under the rules of Angle Grinder.
