Coil

A metal detector quite detects accurately using the coil that placed into the machine. If the loop is large, you have a chance to get a tiny portion of metal from the site. The large coil means, you will have great findings than the mini coil. When you left a little metal using a small coil, there's a chance e to get that if you are using the large coil. These are mostly supported when the treasure stays in unusual depth.

Beat Frequency Oscillator Technology (BFO)

BFO is the simplest technology briefly use in an entry-level detector. The mechanism is the oscillator of the machine to produce low-frequency currents into the soil level. When any metal gets this frequency, the alert sent on the receiver of the metal detectors. But in here, you need severe movement to detect.

Pulse versus beat technology

The high voltage beats are being produced. When a metal is lying on the detector, it can catch up the signal and alert it to the receiver. You don't need movement, and the ground minerals don't impact the technology. Pulse versus beat is a widely used technology nowadays.

Many factors widely impact the procedure of detection of the metal. These are environmental, ecological, geological, and many more.

Depth

When you start with entry-level metal detectors, you will not expect better performance against professional detectors. The depth of detection complies with the frequency and coil measurement. If you want to start a job with a powerful detector, you must need a higher frequency and larger coil. Or, if you are a beginner, you can begin your journey with a lower frequency. After you understand all mechanisms, you can quickly shift there.

Soil Type (compacted or aerated)

The soil type makes a difference in detection. If the soil is hard enough, there's a chance of miss reading. If the ground is sandy or sandy loam or well-aerated clay, you can get better reading than a compact soil.

Ground Angle & slope

When you work on a flat surface, you will not get the same result if you work on a sloppy ground. The angle of the ground is the reason for miss reading. If you are a professional, you must face the situation. You can make a solution for a little time interval. But for beginners, the ground angle is a massive problem.

Object size

The things that bellow the soil level are essential to catch up. But the size of those things is matters. Some object is too much small to detect for an entry-level detector. But you can get a signal, and you just have to be an expert.

Metal Types 

A single metal is easy to recognize for metal detectors. But stainless steel is difficult to detect in terms of other metals. Because it contained carbon (C), chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), Molybdenum(Mo). The presence of several metals makes stainless steel more sophisticated to detect.

Weather Conditions

Mother nature won't obey your instructions. Rainy weather is not preferable for detecting metal. If you do so, you will not get success and even can't overcome the problem that will arise.

Can I use a metal detector in a wetland or Water?

Suppose you want to detect metal along with the beach, lake, or other wetland. You must need a waterproof metal detector. Otherwise, your general metal detector can not apply in the wetland. It may be hazardous for your detectors. So, don't use your regular detector in a swamp.

Can a metal detector detect diamonds?
Interesting, right?
But a metal detector can not detect non-metallic things like a diamond. Several non-metals substances are lying on the earth's soil level. Diamonds, Pearls, wooden parts, etc. aren't suitable to detect for any metal detectors.
